The new “Cutting Assistant,” an AI-powered tool to enhance laser-cut edges, will be introduced at our in-house exhibition INTECH. Available for TruLaser series with 6kW or more, it helps users save time and tackle the skilled worker shortage.
The Cutting Assistant uses AI to independently determine laser cutting parameters. Production employees simply take a picture of their component’s cut edge with a hand scanner. The solution then assesses edge quality based on objective criteria such as burr formation and suggests optimised parameters for the cutting process.
“Users aren’t just empowered to combat the skilled worker shortage, they’re also able to save time and money. This gives them a competitive edge when it comes to productivity,” says Trumpf product manager Louisa Peters.
Trumpf experts have cut thousands of parts and used their extensive knowledge to train the Cutting Assistant’s algorithm. The work continues, with future plans to incorporate data from field applications for even better results.
