Aston Martin unveils James Bond-inspired DB12 Goldfinger

Celebrating the 60-year partnership between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise, Aston Martin has whipped the wraps off the DB12 Goldfinger Edition.

Aston Martin’s partnership with the James Bond film franchise stretches as far back as 60 years, when the iconic DB5 made its silver-screen debut in Goldfinger in 1964. Now, to celebrate this milestone, Aston Martin has whipped the wraps off a new special edition, with the British luxury marque handing the DB12 the “007” treatment.

Reminiscent of the paint scheme of the DB5 that starred in the third instalment of the 007 film series, the special-edition DB12’s bodywork, which wraps around a set of “striking” 21-inch alloys, is finished in Silver Birch. Housed behind the silver-coloured, replete with diamond-like finish, wheels, the black brake callipers feature “bespoke” gold trim.

Stepping inside, the DB12 Goldfinger Edition features 18-carat gold-plated accents. A nod to James Bond’s suit, the sports seats are finished in the DB5’s “fluted” style with a check pattern, the latter of which extends to the door inserts and headliner. In addition, referencing the playing card seen in the last draw during the famous Miami pool scene in Goldfinger, an ‘eight of hearts’ is embroidered onto the drivers’ sun visor.

There’s 18k gold-plated inside where the precious metal adorns the centre console. The flashy finish decorates the rotary dial for the drive modes as well as the gear selector. Gold was also used for the temperature, fan, and volume controls. The gear selector isn’t the standard one found in the regular DB12 since its shape has changed to mimic the golden tracking used by Agent 007. Elsewhere, there are metallic gold fibres woven into the carbon fibre.
