Adendorff Machinery Mart, a leading South African importer and retailer of quality tools and machinery, has partnered with OPTIMUM Maschinen Germany GmbH to introduce a range of standard CNC machines to the South African market. The range includes three CNC milling machines and three CNC lathes, all developed in Germany, produced under European standards, and equipped with Siemens SINUMERIK control systems, one of the global benchmark products for industrial CNC machinery.

Machines have been ordered and stock is expected to arrive around October/November 2026.

Since 2003, OPTIMUM Maschinen Germany GmbH has produced a large share of its metalworking machines in its own factory in Yangzhou China. The quality is monitored by German quality management officers and production supervisors, says the company. The most important aspect of the manufacturing of the machines says the company is that the development, design and quality management take place in Germany.

Adendorff Machinery Mart says this latest development by the company is to make European-standard CNC technology accessible to local engineers, manufacturers, and workshops for the first time through Adendorff Machinery Mart.

Adendorff Machinery Mart was established in 1990. However, it’s journey began as a retailer and wholesaler in the early 1990s when it transitioned from an auctioneering business into a tool supply enterprise. The core of the company is to offer professionals, businesses, tradesmen, workshops, and serious DIY users a range of machinery, power tools, tooling and accessories, generators, automotive and construction equipment, sourced internationally and locally.

The company now offers air compressors, hand tools, power tools, garage equipment, generators, welding equipment, woodworking machinery, engineering tools, material handling equipment, and much more. OPTIMUM has been designing and building metalworking machinery for over 20 years. Initially Adendorff will be importing three vertical machining centers, ranging from a compact training-ready model through to a full production machine with a 16-tool automatic tool changer and BT40 spindle.

CNC vertical milling machines
The OPTIMUM F3 entry-level CNC milling machine is a compact, universal CNC milling machine built for training environments and small-batch production alike. Linear guides and ball screws in all axes, with servo drives and Siemens SINUMERIK 808D ADVANCED control throughout. The XYZ travels are 360mm by 170mm by 250mm, the table size 460mm by 200mm and the maximum load is 30kgs.

The OPTIMUM F80 mid-range vertical machining center has a 12-position carousel tool changer and BT40 spindle, 3-axis linear guides and Siemens control, XYZ travels of 450mm by 300mm by 450mm, the table size 800mm by 260mm and the maximum load is 200kgs.

The OPTIMUM F150E flagship production milling machine has a BT40 spindle running to 10 000rpm, a 16-tool automatic tool changer, a Siemens 828D control, XYZ travels of 800mm by 500mm by 500mm, a 7.5kW motor, a 16-position carousel, rapid traverse (XYZ) 32 m/min and a table load of 500kg.

CNC lathes
Three CNC flatbed lathes are being imported, from a compact training-ready unit through to a full-production machine with 400mm swing and 7.5kW total power.

The OPTIMUM L28HS is a compact CNC flatbed lathe designed for small-batch production and training. The grey cast iron machine bed provides a stable foundation, and the rear-mounted 6-position tool changer keeps the working area clear. Central automatic lubrication and an incremental spindle encoder for threading are standard. It is equipped with a Siemens SINUMERIK 808D ADVANCED control, the swing over bed is 300mm, the centre height is 150mm, the spindle bore is 30mm, the motor power is 3.5kW and it has 6 tool positions.

All of the machines are developed in Germany, produced under European standards

The OPTIMUM L34HS mid-range CNC lathe has a 46mm spindle bore, linear guideways, Siemens SINUMERIK 808D ADVANCED PPU 15X control, the centre height is 165mm, the spindle bore is 30mm, the swing over bed is 540mm and the motor power is 3.7kW. The L34HS is well-suited to small series production and training. The rear-mounted turning turret accommodates left-hand turning tools.

The OPTIMUM L40 production CNC lathe has a 400mm swing over bed, a 7.5kW motor, ball screws on both axes and an 8-step electric turret at the front.

Adendorff says OPTIMUM has access to a range of other metalworking equipment including drills, grinders and sheet metal equipment such as laser cutting and bending and accessories that it could start importing but will concentrate on the CNC shaping equipment for the near future.
