Sandvik Coromant unveils online tool recommendation service for improved efficiency and agility in parting and grooving operations
Sandvik Coromant is offering an online tool recommendation service for production engineers looking to improve efficiency and agility in parting and grooving machining operations. Known as ‘First Choice’, the new ‘e-service’ is part of the company’s strategy of combining the latest technologies with improved levels of support in order to deliver industry-leading parting and grooving solutions.

First Choice is a free service and can be found by visiting www.sandvik.coromant.com/FirstChoice. Via a browser production professionals can enter key parameters related to a specific operation including material used, workpiece characteristics, machined diameter start and budget. Based on this information the tool displays the most suitable parting and grooving tool from the comprehensive Sandvik Coromant portfolio.

This e-service is the latest in a series of technology and support initiatives that Sandvik Coromant is planning around parting and grooving. These initiatives are backed up by technical specialists that can provide advice and recommendations and who have created a series of ‘Top Tips’. These include suggestions for minimizing cutting force and environmental pollution, guidance for dealing with long overhangs, and best practice to improve process security and extend insert life.
