The crowded DMG MORI stand in hall 4. DMG MORI presented 40 high-tech exhibits over 2,437m², including 10 world premieres. With 13 433 specialist visitors, 78% more customers and interested visitors were registered at the DMG MORI booth, compared to the previous EMO in Milan (2009). The main interest of the visitors lay in the innovations, forward-looking product trends, the industry 4.0 exhibits and in the latest version of Celos. As a result of the 2015 EMO, DMG MORI sold products valued at €106.9 million

The representatives of leading machine tool, tooling, consumables, services and accessories supplier to the metalworking and related engineering industries, the Retecon Group, had their hands full this year while attending the EMO 2015 exhibition in Milan, Italy.

Retecon has serviced all the metal forming and cutting disciplines including milling, turning, gear cutting, boring, grinding, tube and wire, EDM, pressing, punching, laser, bending and measuring for 45 years by importing quality well known brands from all over the world.

Retecon’s various products range from vertical and horizontal machining, turning lathes, multi-spindle lathes, universal milling and boring, tool and cutter grinding, laser cutting systems, bending systems, punching and forming machines, automatic sawing equipment, roll forming, wire and tube cutting and bending machinery, measuring equipment, fixtures and fittings, manufacturing lines and much more.

The Retecon Group represents a number of well-known international manufacturers including Trumpf, United Grinding-Studer-Jung-Mikrosa, GF AgieCharmiles, Kasto, DMG MORI, Ficep, Kapp-Niles, Hexagon Metrology Group, Schuler, DEA-TESA, Renishaw, Leica, Mahr and EFD.

All brands of the United Grinding Group are fully committed to ensuring efficiency in all corporate areas for their customers. Energy efficiency is a key priority. The S121, which machines medium-sized workpieces, was one of two new universal internal cylindrical grinding machines exhibited by Studer

Most of these companies were exhibiting at EMO Milano 2015, and many chose this event to showcase their technology solutions to the world—not just to visitors from Europe. Because shops and plants are so much alike in the challenges they face, these solutions are highly likely to be applicable to prospective buyers no matter which country or continent they call home. Many of them introduced new models, new developments and new techniques.

Leading the way was DMG MORI. The company presented a total of 10 world premieres at its stand in Hall 4. In the field of turning technology, there are four world firsts: the production lathe Sprint 32|5, built in Italy (including the equally new upgrade of the SPRINT 32|8), the second generation of the turn & mill machines, CTX gamma TC in no less than two sizes, and the NLX 6000|2000 turning-milling centre for large components. The three milling innovations all originate this time from the 4th generation of the duoBLOCK® series. The trade fair presentation was rounded off by three world premieres from the ecoMill V series, as well as the automatic lathes from DMG MORI Wasino, that have recently been added to the product range, strengthening the portfolio of DMG MORI since April this year.

United Grinding Group exhibits four world innovations for the grinding machine market
Studer, one of the eight company brands within the Group, presented two new products: The two universal internal cylindrical grinding machines, S121 and S141. The S121 machines medium-sized workpieces for small series. Its sister machine, the S141, is suitable for workpieces up to 1300mm in length and thus sets a new industry benchmark in internal cylindrical grinding.

The AgieCharmilles CUT E 350/600 wire-cutting EDM machines demonstrate their versatility by offering cone cutting capability up to 30 degrees over 45mm

Well established customer favourites were also exhibited on the stand. These included the new J600 surface and profile grinding machine from Jung for small batch production, the MFP 50 from Mägerle with improved control unit, the Profimat MC from Blohm with RazorTec® nozzle positioner, and the flexible Kronos S 250 centerless grinding machine from Mikrosa.

GF Machining Solutions – AgieCharmilles
The new AgieCharmilles CUT E series from GF Machining Solutions was exhibited for the first time. The CUT E 350/600 wire-cutting EDM machines demonstrate their versatility by offering cone cutting capability up to 30 degrees over 45 mm. Integrated glass scales preserve long-term, repeatable accuracy, require no recalibration, and eliminate classical screw system errors related to backlash and wear. A large, 25 kilogram spool is available to extend running hours and allow continuous production.

Hexagon Metrology
Hexagon Metrology demonstrated a number of its products as part of automated systems designed to support factories of the future and a world technology premiere.

For the first time visitors were able to see the latest Leitz Sirio coordinate measuring machine (CMM). The horizontal-arm measuring machine, equipped with integrated rotary table and tool magazine, can be easily integrated into series production lines and fed by part transfer systems. Also on display was the Tigo SF compact shop-floor CMM. With an open structure on three sides which makes it ideal for use with robotic part handling, it was presented alongside a fully-automatic loading/unloading system.

The 6DoF Leica Absolute Tracker AT960

As well as this integration with robotic part transfer systems, Hexagon Metrology offers six degrees of freedom (6DoF) laser tracker based robotic calibration and guidance solutions capable of turning standard industrial robots into precise and versatile systems for automated applications from inspection to assembly. EMO visitors could see the 6DoF Leica Absolute Tracker AT960 in action, while other portable metrology exhibits included the affordable but accurate Leica Absolute Tracker AT402, as well as a complete range of products from the Romer Absolute Arm portable measuring arm range.

Renishaw focuses on measurement speed, accessibility and simplicity
Products highlighted included new software for the Equator™ flexible gauge, which allows users to create simple gauging routines in minutes, the new Modus 2 metrology software suite which simplifies the programming of co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs), a new ‘pay-as-you-go’ machine tool probe system and a simple single-axis tool setter.

Renishaw also launched a new free software suite for Renishaw calibration systems. The suite includes Capture and Explore, which provides data capture and analysis for the XL-80 laser interferometer system. Carto release 1.1 supports linear, angular and straightness measurement with a choice of keypress, position and remote (TPin) triggering. Carto features a new database system which automatically stores and organises data for the user, simplifying operation and allowing users to quickly and easily compare data with historical results.
