Gühring launches FB 200 U three-fluted genuine 180° flat drill

With three cutting edges, you can create a 180° hole base faster than ever before.

Gühring has launched its new FB 200 U three-fluted genuine 180° flat drill, which they say is the only three-fluted genuine 180° flat drill (patent pending) that outperforms conventional two-fluted drills in a number of aspects. Whether you’re dealing with flat, inclined or curved surfaces with the FB 200 U, entire machining steps and/or tools are no longer needed in a number of applications. Combined with its outstanding performance, this makes the drill a guarantee for economical processes. The innovative new tool from Gühring is available in the diameter range 4mm to 20mm and in 3xD as well as 5xD.

Three cutting edges – lots of advantages
With the FB 200 U, three cutting edges with a 180° point angle ensure a more even distribution of cutting forces and, in combination with the reinforced shank transition, ensure high stability during drilling. This enables you to produce rounder holes with much greater dimensional accuracy compared to conventional flat drills.

Another advantage of the FB 200 U is the improved chip removal, which means that users do not have to worry about chip jams or process reliability. The 3-fluted cutter creates short chips that are removed reliably in three directions. This advantage is particularly noticeable in longer chipping materials, where difficulties in chip removal are not uncommon.

Reduced machining times thanks to 50% higher cutting values
However, the FB 200 U not only impresses with outstanding hole quality. With this tool, up to 50% higher cutting values can be achieved compared to a two-fluted flat drill, allowing users to significantly reduce machining time.

But that’s not all. The FB 200 U can be used to drill on flat surfaces without pre-drilling or reducing the cutting values. The flat drill also eliminates the need to face with a milling cutter before piloting on inclined surfaces. The 3xD version allows for spot drilling on inclined and curved surfaces up to 45° without the tool being pushed away. With the FB 200 U, users not only drill faster – process costs are also reduced through the elimination of individual machining steps and additional tools.
