BIEMH’16 grows and confirms the recovery of the sector

Three months before its doors open, the floorspace figures for the last three editions have already been bettered.

With three months still to go before it opens its doors, BIEMH, International Machine tool Exhibition, has already exceeded the figure for floorspace attained at its previous editions, with 1 183 exhibiting firms having reserved space in five halls at the exhibition centre. Since the campaign for the event kicked off in June last year significant growth has been maintained over the figures recorded at equivalent times leading up to the previous edition.

The participation of the world’s leading machine-tool companies has made BIEMH one of Europe’s biggest trade shows in its field, so the event is dedicating its slogan this year – You Make it Big – to the real stars of the show: the exhibitors. The message is a direct reference to the strength of these firms, which offer specialised, technically innovative products with high added value. It also echoes the 2014 slogan “Think Big, Think BIEMH”. With a new image focused on smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the commercial campaign for the event is already under way. It is set to culminate with the 29th BIEMH at Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Spain on May 30 – June 4 2016.

In all, 35 500 people from 57 countries visited the 2014 edition, which featured 1 314 exhibiting firms and marked the beginning of the recovery of the machine-tool industry.

BIEMH is also one of the biggest events in the Basque Country for business tourism, as it is the biggest industrial platform in Spain and attracts thousands of manufacturers and buyers from all over the world. To offer participants an all-round experience that also extends to the local cuisine, culture and landscapes, Bilbao Exhibition Centre works closely with Basquetour, a Basque tourist agency answerable to the Basque Government.
